Psychology and Spanish Language & Literature

We are so excited to welcome Amanda Fernandez to the PINC Summer Internship Program! She’s a Sophomore at SUNY- Binghamton, DOUBLE majoring in Psychology & Spanish Language & Literature. Amanda is a Queens native, like founder Lisette ;), who has a love of music and dance. We can’t wait to have her fancy feet rock Madrid! We compiled some facts about Amanda for you to get to know her and see her sassy personality.

What are you most excited about when you think of PINC?

What I’m most excited about is being able to experience Spain! Being from New York City, I have become very attached to all the amazing opportunities it has to offer, however, there is a whole world out there waiting to be explored! I’m fluent in Spanish but have really only exercised the language in the classroom or with my family so I’m also looking forward to speaking the language and applying my knowledge of it in a professional environment

1.     Which groups/sorority/organization are you currently affiliated with?

I am currently an executive board member of Quimbamba Latin Dance Team and the Latin American Student Union, both organizations that strive to educate and raise awareness on the Binghamton campus about Latino culture.

2.     Where do you see yourself 10 years from now?

I’m honestly not sure where I see myself 10 years from now, I just hope that wherever it is that I end up, I am genuinely happy in that place. People tend to focus on what tomorrow brings instead of enjoying what they have today, which only causes anxiety and anticipation. Life is so much better when you stop and smell the roses.

3.     Any guilty pleasures?

My guilty pleasure would definitely have to be swirled Hershey kisses. The mix of milk and white chocolate tastes so good! I could eat an entire bag in 2 days.

4.     What are looking forward to do most in Madrid?

I’m looking forward to sight-seeing and, of course, try all the amazing Spanish dishes!

5.     What is one of your proudest accomplishments to date?

One of my proudest accomplishments has to be going away for college. I’m the first in my family to do so and it feels amazing to set higher standards for the younger generation to come.

6.     What characteristic do you most admire in others?

The most admirable characteristic I find to be positivity. There’s just something beautiful about a person who can look at the silver lining in every situation and know that things always get better.

7.     If you could sit and have coffee with one celebrity dead or alive who would it be?

If I could have dinner with one celebrity, it would definitely have to be Erykah Badu. Her views on life are very similar to my own and I can only imagine how intriguing a conversation with her would be.
