Meet Jaylene- Immersion 2017

Jaylene Valentin

Kingsborough Community College

Major: Business Administration

When I think about PINC, I’m most excited about meeting the other ladies. It’s so rare nowadays to meet people who are so committed to personal and professional growth, and I see so much of that within the PINC community.
We’re all so unique in many ways, but the one thing we all have in common is our dedication to success and I can’t wait see how everyone grows after the program! And of course, I’m super excited to be spending my 20th birthday in SPAIN!

Which groups/sorority/organization are you currently affiliated with?
I am currently a member of Sigma Alpha Pi, AKA The National Society of Leadership and Success, as well as I am 1/30 of my campus’ student ambassadors!

Where do you see yourself 10 years from now?
In just ten years from now, I’ll be 30 (OMG!) and to be honest, I’m not exactly sure where I would want to be. I hope to be a successful business owner, having traveled the world with great friends, owning my own home,
and maybe, possibly engaged? But no rushing on that one, haha!

What are some of your bucket list items/places?
-Graduate college
-Go on a missionary trip with my church
-Volunteer more within my community
-Go to Italy- because pasta, duh
-Live ‘La Pura Vida’ in Costa Rica
-Move to LA for a year

What is one of your proudest accomplishments to date?
One of my proudest accomplishments to date is graduating high school with honors in my major, instrumental music. I received a 1st place gold award at my graduation ceremony, received a perfect score on my senior exit solo, and was the only student in my graduating class to receive a chancellors endorsed diploma for the arts. Talk about #musicislife.

If you could sit and have coffee with one celebrity dead or alive who would it be?

If I could sit and have coffee with one celebrity, I would have to go with Shonda Rhimes. After reading her book, Year of Yes, I definitely felt super inspired. Saying yes to every opportunity that comes to you seems so intimidating but after reading her book, I realized how powerful the words yes and no truly are. Her book inspires me to be more open to new experiences, be more confident in my own skin and to love myself because I am perfectly made. She’s truly ‘badass’ and I would love to
dance it out with her!
