Deirdre studied at the University of Virginia and graduated with a major in Spanish and minor in Anthropology. After she studied 2 masters  in Valencia, Spain at Universitat de Valencia in Traducción Creativa y Humanística and Patrimonio Cultural. Currently, she is studying a Graduate Certificate Course from UCLA  in Human Resource Management. We compiled some questions for you to get to know a little more about Deirdre and amazing personality!

What are you most excited about when you think of PINC?

I would say that I´m excited to have found such a wonderful opportunity to enhance my professional skill set in such a vibrant city as Madrid.  I absolutely love it here and think it will be a wonderful learning experience.  Not only is it the capital of Spain, but its business hub and I think it´ll give all of us a chance to learn skills in an international setting.  I also am excited to get to know the other girls in the program in addition to networking in Madrid.

Where has been your favorite place you have visited to date?

Dublin.  Lots of beer and lots of happy, helpful people.  I went at the end of November last year and it was like a scene out of A Muppet Christmas Carol…absolutely beautiful.  And the fact that people could ACTUALLY pronounce my name right was a huge plus.

Tell us two bucket list items that you still need to tick off.

My number one place on my bucket list that I have wanted to go to for the looongest time is Istanbul…but I´m finally going for Spring Break (check)!  Another one would be to be an extra in a film.  I´m horribly camera shy and have stage fright.  But I think it would be cool to have a mini claim to fame and be like ¨oh you see that zombie over there missing an arm and drooling all over herself…that´s me!¨

What movie or novel character do you most identify with?

Probably Ralphie from A Christmas Story.  I feel like half the time in my head I´m sarcastically narrating my own life.

When are you the happiest?

When I´m traveling.  Most especially when I´m eating in said exotic locations. Good beer doesn´t hurt either.

What characteristic do you most admire in others?

Independence.  I valued this trait when I still lived in the US.  The fact that people live in Spain with their parents until they´re 30ish has just made it a hot commodity.

If you could have coffee with one celebrity dead or alive who would it be?

Frida Kahlo. Hands down.  We would drink tequila, talk smack on men and complain about public transport systems (too soon?)
